Spiritual Health

Most of us are unaware of the health of our spirit or life energy. We go about our daily business without ever giving a second thought to this very vital part of our lives. For the majority of people, spiritual health is intangible, invisible the notion of the spirit is purely an idea or abstract concept, not a thing that can be monitored and measured easily like blood pressure or insulin levels. Yet our spiritual health is just as real and important as any other measurement of our well being. Lacking the modern devices and technology used to track physical illness, we must rely upon a routine of self examination and introspection in order to gauge the health level of our spiritual selves. When the spiritual self is injured, the mind and body suffer. Take some time to examine your life path, your beliefs and expectations. Consider practicing meditation or other relaxation techniques to reduce stress and anxiety. Make a point of self evaluating the strength of your spirituality and take steps to connect or reconnect with the sense of wonder and mystery of life. The resulting inner conflict can result in a sort of spiritual flu, an illness which we carry often for a lifetime and we can never seem to shake.

Your Mindset and Your Health

Your mindset is a very powerful thing…so powerful in fact that it can have a tremendous impact on our physical health. Most of us know or at least have felt that there is a link between our mind and our health from our own experiences. It’s the degree that our mindset can impact our health that may really surprise you. Imagine if you live with chronic stress or live in a negative mindset. There is a pretty clear link between stress and our physical health and new research is suggesting that stress causes an increase in cortical levels. This causes damage to our arteries, a possible explanation of why stress increases our risk of cardiovascular disease. But, it’s not just stress, it is depression as well, according to Dr. Michael Freneau, professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Birmingham in England. Depression doubles an otherwise healthy person’s heart attack risk. One of the most frequently discussed studies connecting your mindset to your susceptibility to getting sick was conducted by Dr. Cohen, Carnegie Mellon University. Some healthy individuals were exposed to the cold virus and very interesting things happened! Dr. Cohen showed that individuals who exhibited a positive emotional style or mindset had a greater resistance to getting the cold.

Chiropractic and Spinal Health

The healing art of chiropractic was discovered in 1895 by D. D. Palmer and since that time has become the largest nondrug natural healing art in the United States. On average, each year, over two hundred million visits are made to the sixty thousand plus practicing chiropractors. By 2008, it is estimated that nearly 50 percent of all visits to complementary and alternative practitioners will be to chiropractic doctors. In its 112-year history, chiropractic has come a long way in its development and practice. Initially, skeptics considered chiropractic to be quackery. However, as chiropractic science and practice evolved, chiropractic itself has become one of the most accepted and widely used forms of health care. For many people, when they think of chiropractic, a vision of bad backs or necks comes to mind. Although many people first go to see a chiropractor because of back pain or a neck problem, patients often find many other aspects of their health improving for the better. One common question most people have regarding chiropractic care is, this is a misleading question since chiropractic is not a specific treatment for any condition. Instead, rather than treating a specific disease or condition, chiropractic focuses on the inherent ability of the human body to heal itself.

Understanding Tongue Health

A bunch of us have had to suffer with a problem that our doctors would prefer have us accept. We have been informed it is common even though we know it isn’t. We have been told it is nothing to get frustrated about, even though we do. And we have been told that we should learn to deal with it even though we don’t want to. The issue we suffer from is a discoloration on our tongue and it is embarrassing as well as annoying. Discolored tongues come in a variety of versions. The fiends can be white, yellow or even a bright orange. Some of them are geographic and some of them are hairy. Some of them are symptoms of an STD and some of them are clear bacterial disproportions. Figuring out which one applies to you is a little difficult to guess at times, and getting rid of them can be even harder. Discolored Tongues can also be caused by fungal infections. The awesome news is these are often easy to beat. Fungal infections are cured with anti-fungal mouth rinses or prescriptions. A very typical fungus that causes problems for your mouth is Candida Albia’s. Candida Albia’s is a genus of yeast and is more widely known as thrush.
